Weekend to End Breast Cancer

I have signed up for the Weekend to End Breast Cancer.

Support My Journey

The Weekend to End Breast Cancer is a two-day, 60-kilometre or one day 30 kilometre walk through the neighbourhoods of Toronto.

I will be doing the one day 30 kilometer walk in honour of the incredible women who are currently battling breast cancer and in particular 2 very special women!!!

In March 2009, I found out my GodMother/Aunt was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I was shocked to learn that it is already stage 4, but I know that we must remain hopeful and positive. Madrinha (Godmother) Graca is staying strong through her chemotherapy and is encouraged by all the new advances in treatment. I believe and hope that there will be help for her too.

I have been a proud supporter of breast cancer research in the past, but this time around I need to do something more. For those of you who know me well, you know I am not the most physically active person and I am not very good at asking for money. However I am encouraged since I know that the 30 kilometers is not hard compared to battling breast cancer. The money is not for me, it is for the amazing reasearchers and doctors who have one goal in mind the eradication of breast cancer!

My walk is dedicated to Madrinha/Tia Graca and to my friend Maggie, who is a breast cancer survivor and inspires me everyday!!

Thank you for your support and encouragement!
Love,
Helen

Proceeds benefit The Campbell Family Institute at The Princess Margaret, funding important breast cancer research, education, services and care.
